Aniimo Steam Deck: Compatibility and Best Settings

Aniimo Steam Deck support is not official, but the game does run. Does Aniimo run on Steam Deck?

Two reports from GamingOnLinux, both carried on the game's official Steam news feed, describe the situation. The September 17, 2026 report covers the launch and states that Aniimo can work on SteamOS and Linux but needs a Proton tweak. Performance, controls and the 40 GB install

We have no measured frame-rate figures we can cite: the Deck coverage that exists is community video rather than a published performance test, and the developer has not published Deck settings (single source: community coverage). What we can confirm is the install footprint, because the store page and the studio's own recommended-specs post agree on it (double source). So budget for storage and setup time rather than for a frame rate nobody has published.

On controls, the Steam listing flags DualSense controller support and partial controller support, so a pad is expected but not fully configured out of the box (single source: Steam listing). Neither the store page nor the studio has published a recommended configuration for a handheld, which is why the community threads land on both launch problems and controller problems. Practically, the two things to budget for are free storage — 40 GB with no smaller recommended figure — and the time it takes to set up a compatibility layer before your first launch.

Handheld alternatives that need no tweaking

If the goal is Aniimo on a handheld rather than Aniimo on this particular handheld, the cloud and mobile routes need no Proton work. Each option is listed with how strong its source is, because some of these are official announcements and some are store metadata. The cloud routes also sidestep the 40 GB install entirely, which matters more on a handheld than on a desktop.

The Xbox listing goes further and names Handheld among the devices it plays on, alongside Xbox Series X|S, PC and cloud (single source: Microsoft Store listing). That does not mean Valve has rated the game for SteamOS — it means a handheld-class device is one of the listed targets. Cheapest thing to do first: the game is free on Steam, so the only cost of trying the Proton route is the download and the setup time.
